harvested peaches in basketsThe Sandhills Research Station will host the NC State University Peach Field Day on Wednesday, July 11, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. The event will cover an overview of research being conducted by NCSU Specialists and the NCDA Regional Agronomist on the station in the area of peach production. Topics include Rootstock Evaluation updates, peach fertility management, insect pest overview, biochar research, and discussion on peach diseases. Trams will carry attendees across the station to visit the research sites in the orchards. The meeting will conclude with a light supper and, the highlight of the evening, homemade peach ice-cream. There is no cost for this event. Pesticide credits will be available for license holders who attend (NDOX). The Sandhills Research Station is located on 2148 Windblow Road, Jackson Springs, NC 27281.
